Welcome to iHOG the Blog. This site is the official blog of the International House of Geography (http://ihogthewiki.wikispaces.com) which is the the official site of the 5th grade Historical Geography course at MICDS in St. Louis, Missouri, USA. Enjoy.
Hi MICDS... I think that´s some really cool videos. Over here we got a lot of new knowledge. But I have a little question about the video where some one drives in a car. Is that the border from Missuri to Illinois or what? :D
The line was sooooooooooooo big Mr. Fitz did not get up the Arch, but we will find images to post. There were a lot of people because it was a Saturday and the weather was so nice. The line is so big because they search everyone and their stuff to make sure to terrorists are trying to do baaaaaaaaaaaaaaad things to the Arch. The picture from the car is taken in Missouri and is telling people how to get over the Mississippi River bridges to Illinois.
It is 192m high, and 192 wide at the bottom. Big thing.
The story is that it is the "Gateway Arch" because StLouis was traditionally the last city and stopping point on the way west before settlers moved out into the wildeness. It is also the place where the Lewis&Clark Expedition set off from and returned to. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jefferson_National_Expansion_Memorial
